Bob Seger performs at the BOK Center

Bob Seger and the Silver Bullet Band returned to Tulsa on Saturday, May 4 for one last romp. The band is “turning the page” a final time on what they’ve promised is their last tour.

With soaring clarity and control, Seger’s singular voice led the Silver Bullet through a string of hits that seemed like it could never end (“Still the Same,” “We’ve Got Tonight,” “Like a Rock,” “Night Moves”) peppered with deep cuts from Seger’s catalog, and a couple of poiniant covers (including Bob Dylan’s “Forever Young”).

Seger’s connection to Tulsa music goes back decades; he recorded and toured with several Tulsa musicians during his golden era in the ’70s, including drummers David Teegarden Sr. and Jamie Oldaker (who were both in attendence at the show), and the late Hammond B3-whiz Dickie Sims.

At times emotional and cathartic, the band performed with the energy of a band who—though they say they're calling it quits—could ride that momentum forever.
