Gelotology (Or, what we learned at Laughter Yoga)
Here are some highlights from the Laughter Yoga breakout session at Celebrating the Art of Healing: Finding Balance in 2015.
- Laughing is a natural pain killer, sleep aid and relationship booster
- Gelotology is the study of laughter and its effects on the body
- Therapeutic care clowns are rad
Try the following exercises for just 10-15 minutes per day:
- Combine repetitive clapping and ho-ho-ha-ha-ha-ing with body movement and eye contact
- Open your mouth and belly laugh
- Breathe in through the nose and out through the mouth with a sigh
- End your session with “Very good, very good, yay!”
